Giving back to our Mother County and the Aberdare Ranges
Highlands Drinks Limited (HDL) played an active role in the 3rd Edition of the Mountain to Mountain Initiative, a noble undertaking championed by the Nyeri County government in late September 2023. This remarkable initiative combined a tree-planting activity with an ultra-marathon event.
The marathon journey, spanning from the grandeur of Mt. Kenya to the picturesque Aberdare ranges, aimed primarily to raise awareness about the importance of embracing physical activity to combat the prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), which have become a significant concern for the people of Nyeri County.
“Currently, Nyeri County leads Kenya in forest cover at 40.89% and tree cover at 45.17% and is a shining example of environmental conservation,” said Nyeri's Deputy Governor, H.E. Kinaniri Waroe. “Highlands' participation in this initiative is a testament to her commitment towards environmental sustainability and community well-being in this county which is a great example to set as an organization.”
The HDL team made its mark on this extraordinary day, participating in a challenging 25km race and contributing to the planting of over 2,000 trees in the scenic Nyeri Hills. We look forward to continued efforts in supporting our mother county and the Aberdare Ranges.
